Community Project: Maple City Clinic PDF Print E-mail
Written by Josef Samuel

We're always on the lookout for dual-purpose projects that allow us to give back to the community and gain exposure for our members. This is one such project and we're excited that it's only a week away! Maple City Clinic in Goshen is a neighborhood facility that really focuses on bettering the lives of those within their community. Operating out of a renovated firehouse, they have small support groups for those battling terminal illnesses or addictions, those who need exercise encouragement, and even pregnancy support. They have heart-warming stories of how families within their community have helped each other, and improved their own lifestyles through this clinic. They even offer their clients the option of working off the medical expenses incurred at their facility through community service. This is a fantastic but self-sacrificing solution for the doctors to offer. But if you enter the clinic, you'll quickly notice that their many freshly painted walls are bare...they want artwork! And since their #1 priority and focus is their community, they would like the artwork to tell some of these stories. They want large photo journalistic type images that inspire health and human connections. Some of the images will be taken at the local farmer's market, others in local parks and on the clinic grounds. Each group will be given a health focus or a story to capture. All the finished artwork will be posted online for the clinic to choose from and each artist will be credited under their piece when it hangs on the clinic walls.

Some of you have already signed up for this great opportunity! If you haven't, please do so ASAP! This event is open for BOTH Full and Basic members to shoot! This is because there will be at least 2 photographers assigned to each group (The Full Members will be group leaders) and the final artwork will be chosen by the clinic. If we have more photographers sign up than we are able to use, however, priority will be given to Full Members.

The event will be held on Tuesday, June 29th, beginning at 5:30pm. We will meet at Maple City Clinic, 213 Middlebury St., Goshen, IN 46528. Groups will be assigned and shooting will be from 6-8pm.

Thanks!

Elia's is closed on Mondays, so we're changing the restaurant to another one in the same general part of town.  We'll be meeting at Mandarin House at 2104 Edison Rd. in South Bend at 6:30.  Sorry for the mixup!

As far as business goes, we'll be discussing the Maple City Project (more info coming in a separate email if you'd like to be involved). As a nerdy conversation starter, we're planning to discuss the world of color and calibration.

TIME: 6:30pm
WHERE: Mandarin House. 2104 Edison Rd. South Bend Here is an updated MAP.
WHY: We don't really need a reason, but we'll just call it a "Business Meeting" :)
